Its true that the media is filtered by the government and that what see on the news and TV is in a way censored all by the same source. I totally agree with this statement in a way. It’s funny how the USA is a country that has freedom of speech and everyone is allowed information and they can have their own ideas and thoughts about what they are presented with, but still Americans are in some way kept from all the information that the news presents. Although I also agree with the fact that some pieces of information do not need to be shared with the public, either for a victim, or viewers sake. Not everyone needs to know the tiny details of every single case that the news presents. Also all the different news stations are shaded with propaganda and advertisements, which is why I don’t really every watch the news, because I know and agree with McGowan’s statement that the “media machine that has become, for all intents and purposes, a propaganda organ of the state”(world as a text 561).

Oh yes! The government has all the control of the media. its a shame that they dont want us to hear the truth
Yes, isn’t it funny how the US has all these constitutional rights that are so often misused and thrown aside? Sounds kind of hypocritical, perhaps their should be two sets of rules, one for the government and one for the people, that way the government wouldn’t get to make them up as they went along any more.
Yeah i agree i wish we could just know for sure who the news we are getting is coming from
It is interesting, if the government has control on the news,then what are they trying to hide? and what can we say about the democracy in the country?
i agree with you, there definitely is a fine line you have to walk in terms of what is news that the public should hear. often times we are probably kept in the dark, but I also believe that at times it can be for our own benefit.
